2016 GLR Funder Huddle
/The Campaign for Grade-Level Reading recently held its 2016 Funder Huddle, April 7-8, 2016, at The Mayflower Hotel, Autograph Collection in Washington, DC. Eyemagination Imaging was honored to serve as the official photographer for this year's Huddle!
The Campaign is a collaborative effort by foundations, nonprofit partners, business leaders, government agencies, states and communities across the nation to ensure that more children in low-income families succeed in school and graduate prepared for college, a career, and active citizenship. Their efforts target an important predictor of school success and high school graduation—grade-level reading by the end of third grade.
This year's honorees included First Book, National Head Start Association, and Reading Is Fundamental (RIF). Attendees also heard from innovative programs, federal agencies, and foundation peers about this year's theme -- What's Working, What's Next?
One Campaign metric is that by 2020 a dozen states or more will increase -- by at least 100 percent -- the number of children from low-income families reading proficiently at the end of third grade. That is quite an audacious goal, and as evidenced by the individuals at this year's Huddle, The Campaign has organized an amazing network of committed, mission-driven partners to achieve it!
